so for me, no template means more creative freedom. whereas maybe for some songs, it'd be better to just hook up a mic, and start strumming on the guitar while singing without any time reference. I mean, starting with a template where the first track is a drum sampler, it's fairly obvious that the first thing you'll do is program some kind of drums. I've used templates for years and I ended up realizing they would limit my workflow options. I love LPX's new 'File > New' menu that bypasses the Template dialog. Kinda like how you like to have your tools organized and positioned before you start working. Only you can tell what your template should look like. Perhaps a Screenset (Screenset 2) is what I need? So with the info I've given, what Template should I make/have that you think would be best for my needs? Next, my thinking is that I need a Mixer Window and a Window so that when I open AD, I can drag my patterns into that part of the screen.Īs an aside, is the window I'm dragging the Patterns into called the Edit Window (please forgive this question, as I am a newbie to DAW recording)?
